Lust List: Hello Kitty Re-Ment Blind Boxes

Hello, my name is Amanda and I am a blind box addict. I am one-hundred percent, unapologetically obsessed with blind boxes and miniatures and I LOVE Re-Ment. Re-Ment is a Japanese manufacturer of highly detailed miniature dollhouse-sized food, furniture, animal figures, cell phone charms… basically anything that can be itty bitty and insanely adorable is what they produce.

What I like about Re-Ment is the mystery of getting a box and not knowing which particular set you’re going to get. While this is ideal if you like a bit of mystery with your purchase, it might not be that great should you get doubles of a set or a set you weren’t particularly fond of. This is where I found eBay to be the best go-to spot to find already opened Re-Ment sets so that you are assured of getting exactly what you want even if it takes away the appeal of a good mystery item.

Re-Ment are perfect for the blind box obsessed but can also be a little pricey with most sets going for $7 on up plus shipping in most cases. These little toys and figures are highly detailed and due to the tiny size, don’t take up much room at all which is a plus. Also, there is a variety of themes and interests that can suit most people’s tastes… anything from sushi, skeletons, instruments, farm animals, handbags, fairy tale tea parties, home appliances… pretty much anything you can think of is available in miniature form.

I’m not sure where it comes from or how it starts but I get on a serious lusting kick for some Re-Ments. The most recent obsession has been over Hello Kitty themed sets, particularly the fast food theme… I am losing my mind over the teeny tiny burgers… with details like the ketchup on the burger being in the shape of Hello Kitty’s bow, the Hello Kitty printed paper wrappers, and the tiny soda fountain. This series is on my I-WANT-TO-BUY-IT-RIGHT-NOW-BUT-AM-DESPERATELY-TRYING-TO-HOLD-MYSELF-BACK-BECAUSE-I’M-AN-ADULT-AND-SHOULD-BE-MORE-RESPONSIBLE list.

Another one of my favorites right now is the sushi bar theme. What is not to love about miniature sushi with a Hello Kitty theme? If you collect all of the sets, they can be combined into one display with Hello Kitty serving in the middle. This is another one on my must buy or Christmas wish list.

Another set right up my alley is the coffee shop theme. Um, hello Re-Ment? Where you making these just for me?? Tom, knowing my obsession with these damn things, got me a box for Christmas. I ended up with the one that looks like it could be hot cocoa with whip cream on top and a tablet. I love the miniature coffee cups and need one in my life… maybe for my desk at work? Yes, I need this for work…

Lastly, Hello Kitty office theme… say what?!?! Miniature phone, laptop, lanyard, calculator… I definitely need this for my desk at work. Tax write off perhaps? I’ve been creeping on the laptop and phone sets through eBay and it’s super expensive. But a girl can dream….

Hopefully writing about these adorable sets will help calm the urge to purchase. I mean… it’s just tiny plastic junk! But the allure of the blind box will forever tempt and torment me, that foul temptress. Damn you Re-Ment for your Hello Kitty focus with themes that I too identify with… sushi… coffee… burgers… work. It’s like you’re spying on my life. Hello, NSA? Tell Re-Ment to keep on keepin’ on with these Hello Kitty series.

Happy Hearts Day ♥

Happy Hearts Day, friends!

Zelda and I kicked it off with a themed photoshoot. She’s so patient and has gotten better at sitting pretty and letting me do my thing. Of course, feeding her treats throughout doesn’t hurt either…

I love the holidays because it’s a time to decorate, have a little fun, surprise loved ones with little treats, and spice/sparkle up our everyday mundane routine. Decorating is my thing and I am one of those weirdos who not only decorates our house but my workspace as well. If we live in our offices (or in a cubicle) for most of our waking adult life, it may as well be welcoming and something one can enjoy. A person can’t work in drab tan colors under fluorescent lights all day and not loose their sanity. So we decorated away! And I’m thankful to have such great cubicle neighbors/friends who encourage this sort of behavior.

I also put together a few little treat bags for a few co-workers and friends (the secret here is lots of chocolate which is very much needed through the workday!). I should note that I try to do things on a budget and found the Dollar Tree and the $1 section at Target are usually my go to places for cute and affordable goodies.

I made a few bags of goodies for a few of my real life gal pals but unfortunately didn’t take any pics of those.

Yesterday I went to see my mom and take her out for lunch at probably one of her favorite spots, Logan’s Roadhouse. What can I say, she’s a cheap date? I also gave her a few little things…

And she in return sent me home with a whole bunch of goodies (it’s funny that we both got each other mini roses). My family doesn’t have a whole lot of traditions but the one thing that was constant throughout my childhood that still continues to this day is that she always puts together something festive for me. Maybe that’s where I got the urge to decorate and gift for holidays from? It’s something we both enjoy doing and it’s nice.

Got an awesome snail mail Valentine (with tattoo!) from my galentine Kelly (Living the Before) ♥

This morning my love made me a red velvet waffle. It was like eating cake for breakfast…

And gave me a super adorable little postcard showcasing his artwork (it’s weird to know he drew a bunch of hearts) with a sweet note on the back. It made me laugh but I love things like this…

Zelda and I then surprised him with some goodies. With everything that’s been going on recently, I figured he needed some love. I have to share that a few weeks ago he found the Sriracha pickles at Target and was so excited. When we got home he immediately wanted to try them and accidentally dropped the jar on the floor. Glass and pickles everywhere. He was pretty bummed so I figured this will give him another chance. Also, The Many Faces of Cartman Kidrobot blind box I got off of ebay so that we can get the exact one he wanted (Officer Cartman) without having to spend a whole bunch of money on blind boxes with ones he doesn’t. I’m finally wising up on my blind box game.

Zelda was pretty pleased with the haul…

And of course, Zelda got a new toy… a cupid pig! She was pretty excited and didn’t want to sit still for a quick pic…

For dinner we grilled at home. It doesn’t make sense to fight the crowds just to be out and about on Valentine’s. It so much more pleasant to stay in with your love, stay comfortable in your jammies, and grill some steaks and potatoes. Om nom nom!

And that was how we spent our Valentine’s. Thankful to have a loving little family and a few great friends in my life ♥ ♥ ♥

Presenting… Lust List!

It can be amazing what you can find online. If you’re anything like me, the things you end up finding are things you really and truly don’t need and they are the things that would completely blow your responsible-adult budget. So, I had the genius idea to post some of my weekly lusts here in hopes of getting the urge to purchase out of my system and to perhaps share some cool finds.

And now without further adieu, I am kicking this week’s Lust List off with a snazzy Book It pin. What great childhood memories to read books in exchange for a personal pan pizza. As a young bookworm this was like a dream come true.

Love this dress but to be honest I’ve never purchased anything from ModCloth. I have a weirdly shaped, disproportionate body and there is no way in hell that I can order clothes online. I hope one day to work up the courage because I love this print.

Recently I have been obsessed with looking at crystals and geodes online. I have always had a thing for shiny earth treasures but have only been limited to amethyst geodes and am slowly expanding my horizons. I’ve requested a few books from the library to try to learn a little bit more and hope to find someplace relatively local that sells these sparkly beauties because hot damn, these things are expensive online!

I am obsessed with miniatures and came across these two dollhouse kits on ebay… what’s not to lust over a miniature bookstore and sushi shop? They look so detailed and even come with working lights! These kits you have to assemble yourself but I’m super hesitant about the quality and if they will arrive in one piece.

And there we have it… my list Lust List. Hopefully by posting the things I want oh so bad but do not need it will help calm down my urge to spend.
